LEMON POHA / AVAL Vegetarian-Dish

Lemony Aval is another recipe that goes together rather quickly. Fresh or frozen corn kernels, chopped carrots, and/or peas are delicious additions to this dish.



Ingredients

Beaten rice (aval)
: 1 cup
Green chillies
: 2
Salt
: To taste
Oil
: 2 tsp
Mustard seeds
: 1 tsp
Bengalgram dal
: 1/2 tsp
: Blackgram dal
: 1/2 tsp
Bengal gram dal
: 1/2 tsp
: Lemon juice
: 2 tsp
Turmeric powder
: 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
: To Taste

Lemon Poha/ Aval

Method

  • Wash the beaten rice and drain out the water. Leave it closed for ten minutes. It will become nice soft.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, add the oil, mustard seeds, bengalgram dal, blackgram dal and micro high for 30 seconds.
  • Now add turmeric powder, green chillies and micro high for another 15 seconds.
  • Finally add the beaten rice, salt, lemon juice, mix well and micro high for 30 seconds.
  • Mix well and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
