TAMATAR PULAO Vegetarian-Dish

This is a simple recipe but has loads of flavor. If you like Tomatoes, then this is the recipe for you.



Ingredients

Rice picked, washed and soaked in 2 cups water
: 2 cups
Tomato puree (made with fresh tomatoes)
: 2 cups
Large onions (sliced)
: 2
Green cardamoms (pounded)
: 4
Black cardamom (pounded)
: 1
Cinnamon
: 1" stick
Peppercorns
: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder
: 1 1/2 tsp
Garlic (crushed)
: 4 cloves
Salt
: To taste
Green chillies to taste (chopped)
: 4
Ghee
: 2 tbsp
Cloves
: 3 to 4

Tamatar Pulao

Method

  • Put ghee in a large, flat-bottomed, microwave-safe dish.
  • Heat at 100% power for 2 minutes. Add all the whole spices.
  • Continue to cook at the same power level for another 1 minute 30 seconds.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Drop in the turmeric powder, onions, and garlic and green chillies.
  • Continue to cook for 4 minutes.
  • In case of combination cooking, reduce the time by a minute.
  • Add the tomato puree, rice along with the water in which it was soaked. Add the salt.
  • Stir and cook uncovered at 100% power for 15 minutes, till the rice has steamy holes on top.
  • Reduce power to 60% and cook covered 5 minutes more.
  • Stand 5 minutes before serving.
