Uttar Pradesh is the most
populous state in India and the fourth largest in terms of area. It has to its
north, Tibet and Nepal, to its north-west, Himachal Pradesh, to its west, Haryana,
to its south-west, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, to its south Madhya Pradesh
and to its east Bihar.
Many holy rivers of India
like the Ganga, the Yamuna, Saryu, Gomti, Rapti, Gandaki and Betravati run through
this state. Several sacred places associated with India's rich heritage like,
Badrinath, Kedarnath, Haridwar, Ayodhya, Mathura , Vrindavan, Kashi and Prayag
are also located in this state.
This part of the state is
also more involved in Indian politics than any other state!
