Cherrapunji in the state o Meghalaya takes the record of being the second wettest place on earth with a rainfall record of 2,300 cm. Cherrapunji is noted for its orange groves, orange honey and the limestone caves.

Shillong in the state of Meghalaya is bounded on the north by the Umiam gorge, on the northwest by the great mass of the Diengiei Hills that rise up to a height of 1,823 meters above sea level, and on the northeast by the hills of the Assam valley.
