Amitabh Bachchan shared a friendly bond with late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata. In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, the actor recalled a fond memory with Tata. He revealed that Tata had once asked his friend to drop him home after attending an event.
Speaking to Farah Khan and Boman Irani on Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan shared a memory with Ratan Tata. He mentioned that Tata had once asked his friend to drop him home as they lived nearby. The industrialist said that he was asking for a lift as he did not have a car. Bachchan said, “Bohot se aise kisse hai sir.
Humare aur mitra the woh ek saath kahin event mein gaye the. Jab event khatam ho gaya, toh jaane lage (There are many stories about him. One of my friends went to an event with him. When the event was over, he was about to leave).”
He continued, “Unhone us mitra ko kaha (He told my friend), ‘Can you drop me home? I just live behind your house.’” Khan reacted to this and said, “How sweet!” Irani remarked, “Oh my God.” Bachchan said, “Sir Ratan Tata saying, ‘I don’t have a car.’ Can you imagine that? It’s unbelievable.”
In an earlier conversation, Bachchan recalled how Tata asked him for money to make a phone call when they both were on a flight to London. He said, “We landed at Heathrow Airport, and the people who were supposed to pick him up must have left by then. I saw him standing there, and he went to a phone booth to make a call.
A short while later, he came up to me and asked, ‘Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call!’” He praised Tata for his simplicity and humility. He passed away on October 9 in Mumbai due to age-related issues. He was 86.
On the work front, Bachchan was last seen in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth.
