Maharashtra Election Results: Ajit Pawar Paints The Town Pink As NCP Shines In Mahayuti Win

Maharashtra election results: Ajit Pawar is leading in Baramati where he is facing competition from his nephew Yugendra Shrinivas Pawar (NCP-SP). Baramati is more than just an election contest for the Pawar family

Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction had decided to paint ‘pink’ his election campaign in Maharashtra. Today, when Mahayuti is inching closer to a landslide win in the state, and his party performing well in at least 36 constituencies, Ajit Pawar posted a picture on X, with a bouquet of pink lilies, affirming his win.

Home Minister Amit Shah dialed NCP president and Maharashtra Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar to congratulate him on his victory in the assembly polls.

Ajit Pawar is leading in Baramati with nearly 50,000 votes over NCP-Sharad Pawar’s Yugendra Shrinivas Pawar, according to the Election Commission results in the 10th round of counting of votes on Friday afternoon.

Baramati will be more than just a competition for the two contestants as the Pawar family will try to avenge the so-called betrayal by Ajit Pawar.

Besides his performance in Baramati, Ajit Pawar’s party performance in other constituencies as well will seal the fate for the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra.

In the seat-sharing pact, Ajit Pawar’s NCP was given 59 seats, way less than 81 seats allotted to Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and 149 seats the BJP contested on. His party reported an impressive strike rate of 61%, leading in 36 constituencies, as of Saturday afternoon.

Ajit Pawar, the nephew of estranged Sharad Pawar, has used the colour pink in all his election campaigns – from giant cut-outs to hoardings to clothing.

The colour has been used as a symbol to highlight feminine energy and appease the women voters, who are known to vote independent of their male counterparts.

Ajit Pawar was seen wearing pink and maroon jackets during government and party meetings. He said he has got 18 such jackets for daily wear, as per a report by IANS.

Party spokesperson and youth wing president Suraj Chavan had said pink is the colour of love and affection. It is also “party’s attempt to increase its outreach with girls and women for whom deputy CM Ajit Pawar has announced a slew of sops," IANS quoted Chavan as saying.
