New Meerut Shocker: Man Who Died Of 10 Snakebites Was Murdered By Wife And Her Lover
In a chilling reminder of the dark undercurrents rippling through domestic relationships across the country, another brutal case of spousal murder has emerged from Akbarpur village of in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district.
This follows a disturbing trend of sensational spouse-killing cases, including the now infamous Merchant Navy murder case in Meerut where the accused and her lover encased her husband’s body in a drum filled with cement.
In the latest case, a woman from, aided by her lover, allegedly orchestrated the murder of her husband in a manner so cold-blooded that even investigators were left shaken.
The victim, identified as Amit, a daily wage labourer from Meerut’s Bahsuma police station area, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on his bed. At first glance, it appeared to be a tragic case of snakebite, a narrative reinforced by a disturbing viral video showing a snake repeatedly striking the motionless body.
However, when police sent the body for a post-mortem, the truth unraveled with harrowing clarity. The forensic report revealed that Amit had been strangled before the snake bites were inflicted, suggesting the venomous creature had been used not as a weapon of chance but as a tool to conceal murder.
When the police interrogated Amit’s wife, Ravita, she admitted to have conspired Amit’s murder with the help of her lover, identified as Amardeep. On the night of the murder, while Amit slept, the duo allegedly strangled him.
To fabricate a natural cause of death and divert suspicion, they reportedly purchased a snake for Rs 1,000 and released it onto Amit’s body. The snake was coerced to bite the lifeless man multiple times to simulate a fatal snakebite.
Both Ravita and Amardeep have been arrested. The Meerut police say the investigation is ongoing and additional forensic analysis is underway to strengthen the case. The viral video, now circulating widely, is also being examined as potential evidence of premeditation.
The case bears grim echoes of the Muskan Rastogi-Saurabh Shukla murder case in the same district, where the victim’s wife, Muskan, reportedly murdered her husband with the help of her lover and entombed his body in a blue plastic drum, filled with cement in an attempt to permanently erase evidence.
The brazen nature of that crime had sent shockwaves across Uttar Pradesh, and now, with this new revelation, fears of a disturbing pattern are growing.
Another similar bizarre and cold-blooded murder case in recent years was the Uthra murder case from Kerala, where a man used a live cobra to kill his wife in her sleep.
The murder occurred on May 7, 2020, in which the accused Sooraj S Kumar killed his 25-year-old wife, Uthra, by poisoning her and then releasing a venomous cobra in her bedroom while she slept at her parents’ home in Anchal.
The snake bit her fatally, and Sooraj attempted to pass it off as a tragic accident. On October 13, 2021, the Additional Sessions Court in Kollam sentenced Sooraj to life imprisonment for the murder and also imposed a Rs 5 lakh fine on him.
Interestingly, Uthra had previously survived a snakebite in March that same year, when she was bitten by a Russell’s viper while recovering at Sooraj’s family home. That incident, too, was later proven to have been a deliberate act of attempted murder.
The country has been gripped by a series of similarly shocking incidents in recent months, from spouses vanishing without trace to grisly discoveries that point to cold, calculated murders.
In Meerut itself, the Saurabh Shukla murder case had only just begun to fade from the headlines before this fresh horror pulled it all back into public focus.
