The size of the Indian toy industry is expected to reach Rs 13,000 crore by the year 2015 as against Rs 7,500 crore currently thanks to the growing consumerism in India. The Indian toy industry has been witnessing compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of almost 20%, according to a ASSOCHAM study.
The Indian toy industry caters to about four crore kids in the age group of 12 years across the country. But domestically manufactured toys account for only 15 per cent of the market and the rest of the market is flooded with imported toys from countries like China, Korea, Malaysia, the UK and the US. Almost 70% of the toy market in India is unorganised. The toy industry in the country is growing by 30 percent of late. With consumerism on the rise better days are forecast for the Indian toy-making industry.
