She made her film debut in the year 2002 in the film Tamizhan with Kollywood's ace actor Ilayathalapathy Vijay.

However she made her Bollywood debut in the year 2003 in the film The Hero: Love Story of a Spy which had Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta also in the lead role.

The media has reported that the actress is unanimously getting paid rupees 9 crore for starring in the film Zanjeer Remake in which Ram Charan Tej, Arjun Rampal and Mahie Gill are the leads. However the normal salary of the actress per film is between 3-5 crores.

She was the second women to win the Filmfare Best Villain award in the year 2005 for her very much appreciated performance in the film Aitraaz. Then she did a lot of films out of which only Shaadi Karogi released in the year 2004, Waqt: The Race Against Time released in the year 2005, Krrish released in the year 2006 and Don released in the year 2006 made a decent business in the box office while other films of Priyanka turned out to be flops.
