MUSHROOM MATAR PULAO Vegetarian-Dish

This is very easy recipe, with basmati rice,mushroom and green peas. It is very mild and fragrant, and great as a pulao.



Ingredients

Long grained rice
: 1 cup
Matar (green peas)
: 1 cup
Mushrooms (sliced)
: 1 cup
Tomato
(or two tablespoons - tomato puree)
: 1
Cloves
: 2
Cinnamon
(or pinch of cinnamon powder)
: 1/2" piece
Green cardamoms
: 2
Bay leaf
: 1
Garam masala
: 1 tsp
Salt
: To taste
Cumin (jeera) powder
: 1 tsp
Oil
: 1 tbsp

Mushroom Matar Pulao

Method

  • Clean and wash the rice
  • Soak in warm water for about 10 minutes.
  • Drain and keep aside.
  • Chop the tomato and wash the peas. Keep aside.
  • Combine the oil, chopped tomato, cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms and bay leaf in a glass bowl.
  • Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
  • Add the mushrooms and peas and microwave on high for 1 more minute.
  • Add the rice, mix well and microwave on high for 1 minute.
  • Add 2 cups of hot water to the rice mixture with salt and mix well.
  • Microwave on high for 10 minutes, stirring twice in between after every 4 minutes.
  • Serve hot with raita or curd.
