Bipasha Basu is an Indian Bollywood actress who has proved that models can also make it big in the competitive world of Indian Bollywood cinema. She is an inspiration to all those young and vibrant out there who are striving to make it big.

This tall dusky beauty after having ramp walked many miles has now entered the meandering pathways of Bollywood and has made a mark for herself. She started her career as a model then became a super model and now she is a model-turned actress. She was born to a Bengali Hindi family. She is the second of three daughters to her parents, the elder being Bidisha, and the younger being Vijayeta.

  • She is reportedly being paid a sum of rupees 2-3 crores for a film and 1 crore for endorsements.
  • It was the modeling assignments that she took up during her spare time that made all the difference in her life. She first took science as her main stream in class 12 but then changed to commerce. She did assignments of modeling as part time. Then she won the Ford Godrej Cinthol contest and that's the turning point of her whole life that took her to the modeling field.

  • Then she was taken to New York by Ford and her modeling career started blooming. She had a very successful career thereafter just at the age of 17. She then made her Bollywood debut in the film Ajnabee which also had Akshay Kumar, Abhey Deol and Kareena Kapoor as the lead actors in the film.   • The year 2004 can be easily called as Bipasha's worst year as she had line of films that did very bad at the box office. Next year though her films No Entry and Phir Hera Pheri did very well at the box office. The year 2006 was certainly Bipasha's year all the way with all the good films like Corporate, Omkara, and Dhoom 2 to her credit.

  • Her brilliant and an amazing portrayal of Nishigandha Dasgupta in Madhur Bhandarkar's Corporate helped her to win a nomination for the Filmfare Best Actress Award. She then sizzled in the item number 'Beedi' in the film Omkara. In the year 2008, Bipasha Basu added another hit to her kitty with an amazing film Race while her performance in Bachna Ae Haseeno was appreciated and applauded both by the audience and the film critics.

  • In the year 2009, her first film of the year was Aa Dekhen Zara with the actor Neil Nitin Mukesh but the film turned out to be a flop. She was next seen in All The Best along with actor Ajay Devgan. In the year 2010 we saw Bipasha Basu in the experimental film Pankh, the Bengali film Shob Charitro Kalponik, and Lamhaa with the veteran actor Sanjay Dutt.

  • Bipasha was seen opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Dum Maaro Dum in the year 2011 and in the film Players in the year 2012. Both of these films failed at the box-office. She was last seen in the film Jodi Breakers opposite R. Madhavan and the film did pretty good at the box office. She is also doing a lot of commercial advertisements.


  • Bipasha Basu dated actor John Abraham. The couple has been together ever since late 2002 and have been referred to as a supercouple by the Indian media and they ultimately broke up. She formerly dated fellow Bollywood actor Dino Morea. In the year 2006, Basu has claimed to have been harassed by certain organizers of the India Day Parade in Edison, New Jersey. Basu was originally scheduled to lead the parade which was on 13 August 2006. Basu ultimately appeared on stage late, according to her, because of the pestering. She said in the interview "I wanted to be present at the parade, but I could not." She explained that she was harassed very badly physically and mentally in the car by two people who were escorting her to the parade. In the year 2005 and in the year 2007, UK magazine Eastern Eye named Bipasha Basu as the "Sexiest Woman in Asia".
