Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan shortly called as Salman Khan is an Indian Bollywood actor who is famously referred as the Box Office King as almost all his films become a box office hit. He is also infamously known as the Bad Guy of the Bollywood town. When his name is heard, several images of him sparkle in our mind that includes his good looks, sculpted body and his unquestionable status as one of three reigning Khans of Bollywood.

Apart from acting he is also a very good swimmer and a painter. He does charity work by often visiting sick children at hospitals and he also donates blood regularly. He has done all kinds of roles with so much ease in the films ranging from romantic type to thriller type. He was the fourth Indian to get a wax statue of himself at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in London.

Like many other stars in the Bollywood industry he also came from a well known filmy background but he has made a mark for himself in the industry of Indian Bollywood cinema. He is the eldest son of Salim Khan, who himself is a screenwriter and Salma Khan. Former Bollywood actress Helen is his stepmother. He has 2 brothers namely Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and also has two sisters Alvira and Arpita.

  • In the year 1988 he made his film debut in the film Biwi Ho To Aisi but he played a supporting role. It was in the year 1989 that Salman made his debut as a lead in Sooraj Barjatva's romantic family drama film Maine Pyar Kiya.

  • The film was not only a commercial success and a hit at the box office but it also fetched him the Filmfare Best Debut-male award and the nomination for the Filmfare Best Actor award.

  • So Salman indeed got a dream start with his box office hit debut film which also fetched him the Filmfare Best Actor-male award and Filmfare Best Debutant-male award.

  • There have been a lot of rumours that states that Salman Khan is the highest paid actor in the Industry but no one knows how far its true. 11-15 crores for a film and 5-7 crores for endorsements is his pay cheque. Currently it is being stated that Salman has revised his fee to a whooping sum of rupess 50 crores!

  • In the year 1988 he made his film debut in the film Biwi Ho To Aisi but he played a supporting role. In the year 1991 Salman Khan did three films Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa and Saajan and all the three films were a hit and he unanimously gave a hat trick hit in that year.

  • The years 1992 and 1993 were a bit unsuccessful years for his carrer. Then in the year 1994 he did the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! which was directed by Sooraj Barjatya and he was paired with the famous actress Madhuri Dixit.

  • The film was a huge success at the box office of the year. Then Salman went on and did a lot of films like Khamoshi: The Musical in the year 1996 which was the directional debut film of Bhansali, Judwaa and Auzaar in the year 1997, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya , Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai , Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in the year 1998. All these films did pretty well at the box office and helped Salman to make his mark in the industry.

  • His cameo role in the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai helped him to win the Filmfare Best Supporting actor award. In the year 1999 he did Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Biwi No. 1 and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam which also made huge at the box office. In 2000 he did Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam and all these films did just moderately at the box office. In the year 2003 he did Tere Naam which was a critical box office hit and his performance was very much appreciated.

  • In 2007 he did Mujhse Shaadi KarogiNo and Salaam-e-Ishq which failed to do well at the box office. In 2008 he did Partner and the film was a hit. In 2009 he did Wanted, box office hit film and in the same year he did Main Aur Mrs. Khanna and London Dreams which did not do well at the box office. In the year 2010 he did Dabangg which became the second highest grossing film ever in the history and the film was a raging success. In 2011 Salman gave Ready and Bodygaurd which were the biggest hits of the year.

  • He has had relationships with a lot of females in the past, which includes Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif. His relationship with Aishwarya Rai is the mainly talked about relationship. After their break-up in March 2002, Aishwarya blamed him of harassing her. He has been dating model turned actress Katrina Kaif since 2003. Ultimately even they broke up for some private reasons. At present they are just good friends.
