Shahid Kapoor started off his entertainment career by working in music videos, advertisements and modeling. He made his first ever Bollywood debut in the film Taal by Subhash Ghai in the year 1999.

However his Bollywood debut as lead in the film Ishq Vishk was made four years later in the year 2003. His performance in the film was appreciated by both the film critics and the audience.

Not only he was applauded for his performance in the film but he was also awarded the Filmfare Best Debut Actor-male at the Filmfare award function. But it was in the year 2006 that he established himself as a commercial actor with the film Vivah by Sooraj R. Barjatya.

In the Filmfare award function he was given the Best Debutant-male for the film Ishq Vishk in the year 2004.

He was nominated 2 times for the Filmfare Best Actor Male in the year 2008 for Jab We Met and in the year 2010 for Kaminey.

In the Star Screen Award function he received the Star Screen Jodi no.1 with Kareena Kapoor for Fida and Jab We Met in the year 2005 and 2008.

He received Star Screen Jodi no.1 with Amrita Rao for Vivah in the year 2007.

He also received Star Screen Jodi no.1 with Priyanka Chopra for the film Kaminey in the year 2010.

He has also received the Best Actor Male award for the films Shikar in the year 2006, Vivah in the year 2007 and Kaminey in the year 2010.

He was so much popular among girls and he was fondly called as chocolate boy and hence was offered a sum of rupees 5 crore to perform on a new year eve which he politely declined.

The actor was nominated for the Best Actor Male for Jab We Met and Kaminey.

The actor has been rumoured to have been relationships with Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra Genelia D'Souza, Sania Mirza and Sonam Kapoor. There are instances of interviews in which Shahid has spoken about his broken relationship with Kareena and Priyanka. However now the rumour mails has it that Shahid is dating an Austalian Model named Kristin Akheeva after there were reports that Shahid was geting cosy with the model during a photoshoot.

Shahid was born to the yesteryear actor Punkaj Kapoor and yesteryear actor and an ace dancer Neelim Azim. The ace couple divorced when Shahid was just 3 years old and Shahid lived with his mom thereafter. But still he was maintaining a good relationship with his father and his step mother Supriya Pathak. Shahid was not the only child as he also had a sister named Sana and a half-brother called Ishaan Kapoor who acted with him in the film Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi in the year 2005.
