BHARVAN PATTA GOBHI Vegetarian-Dish

Patta gobhi is a vegetable preparation that can be served with rice or rotis. An indian preparation, the patta gobhi or cabbage is stuffed and cooked along with onions, tomatoes and peas and flavored with garam masala, chili powder, ginger and cumin. Cooked in the microwave with a curd base, the patta gobhi has a light gravy.



Ingredients

Cabbage
: 300 gms
Onions
: 50 gms
Tomatoes (finely chopped)
: 50 gms
Green chillies (finely chopped)
: 4
Shelled green peas (finely chopped)
: 50 gms
Coriander powder
: 3/4 tsp
Turmeric powder
: 1/4 tsp
Red chille pwdr
: 1 tsp
Garam masala powder
: 1 tsp
Salt
: To taste
Curd
: 1 tbsp
Ginger paste
: 1/2 tsp
Oil
: 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds
: 1/4 tsp

Bharvan Patta Gobhi

Method

  • Remove the top portion of the cabbage and scoop out the center. Chop the scooped out portion into small pieces. Place the cabbage, on a microwave safe plate or turntable.
  • Cook on 'Auto cook-3' after increasing the quantity to 300 gms.
  • Heat oil, in a 1 litre dish, on 100% power for 40 seconds.
  • Add the cumin seeds and microwave on 100% power for 30 seconds.
  • Mix in the onions, microwave on 100% power for 3:30 minutes. Stir 2-3 times during cooking.
  • Heat oil, in a 1 litre dish, on 100% power for 1:00 minute. Add the tomatoes, green chillies, ginger paste, salt, and turmeric powder.
  • Mix and microwave on 100% power for 2:00 minutes. Now add the chopped cabbage. Mix well.
  • Cover and microwave on 100% power for 2:00 minutes. Finally add the curd, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and 100ml Water. Mix well.
  • Microwave, partially covered, on 100 % power for 3:00minutes. Stir twice during cooking.
  • Place the scooped out cabbage, in a 1 litre dish, pour the prepared gravy in the hollow ll and spread the remaining gravy, evenly around the sides. Brush with a little oil.
  • Pre heat the oven on 'convection' at 250°C. Bake the stuffed cabbage, at 250°C for 20:00 minutes, placed on the low rack.
  • Serve hot with naan or roti.
