Poppadom is the name of a popular thin round crisp fried bread made in India. Papadum also known as paapad, is a thin crispy Indian wafer sometimes described as a cracker or flatbread. They are typically served as an accompaniment to a meal in India. It is also eaten as an appetizer or a snack and can be eaten with various toppings such as chopped onions, chutney or other dips and condiments.



Ingredients

Black pepper poppadoms
: (kali mirch pappad) (available in any Indian grocery store)
Vegetable oil
: for deep-frying (optional)

Method

  • The poppadoms can be cooked in different ways either directly on fire or by microwave.With practise and depending on the size of the wok, several poppadoms can be fried simultaneously.
  • The poppadoms can also be roasted directly over the stove.
  • They can also be cooked in a microwave on high for 40 seconds to 1 1/2 minutes.
  • Serve at room temperature. Store in airtight containers.
