DAL PALAK Vegetarian-Dish

Palak - also spinach. Lot of dishes are prepared with palak such as Palak paneer, Palak in Moong dal, Palak Sabji etc. It can even be a side dish for lunch as well as chapathi. Healthy and green, there was a time it was hard to find spinach in South India.



Ingredients

Bunch of spinach/palak
(cleaned and chopped)
: 1 medium
Cooked greengram dal
: 1 cup
Oil
: 2 tsp
Mustard seeds
: 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds
: 1/2 tsp
Green chillies slit into half
: 2
Curry leaves
: a few
Turmeric powder
: 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice
: 1 tsp
Salt
: To taste

Dal Palak

Method

  • In a microwave safe bowl, add oil, mustard seeds and cumin seeds and micro high for 30 seconds.
  • . Add the rest of the ingredients except lemon juice and about a cup of water to it.
  • Micro high for 4 minutes, stirring once in between.
  • Add the lemon juice, mix well.
  • Serve hot with rice/rotis.
