HANDI TUVAR DAL
Handi Tuvar Dal has a delightful taste. The lime juice and sugar gives the Handi Tuvar Dal a two dimensional taste.
Ingredients
Tuvar dal (arhar)
washed and soaked for 30 minutes and drained

1 cup
Water
: 3 cups
Turmeric powder
: 1/2 tsp
Jaggery
: 1 tbsp
Cocum washed or two tbsp tamarind pulp
: 6 pieces
Finely chopped ginger
: 1/2 tsp
Salt
: To taste
Sugar
: 1/2 tsp
Lime juice
: 1/2 tsp
Method
- Microwave in an earthernware pot dal, water and turmeric for 40 minutes on medium high 70% power or until dal is cooked.
- Let it stand for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the rest of the ingredients except lime juice and microwave at medium 70% power for another 15 minutes, stirring in between.
- Let it stand for 5 minutes.
- Mix in lime juice.
- Now the vaghar is to be done on a stove.
