MASALA PEANUT KERALA STYLE Vegetarian-Dish

This is a very good evening snack especially for tea and coffee.



Ingredients

Peanuts
: 1 cup
Gramflour(Kadala mavu)
: 2 tbsp
Rice powder
: 1 tbsp
Chilly powder
: 1/2 tbsp
Garlic paste
: 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida(Kayam)
: 1 pinch
Curry leaves(torn into small pieces)
: A few
Salt
: 1/2 tsp
Oil
: For deep frying

Masala Peanut Kerala Style

Method

  • Place peanuts in a microwave safe flat dish & microwave on high power for 1 minute.
  • Open the microwave oven and mix the peanuts well and return to microwave on high for another 1/2 a minute.
  • Remove the peanuts from the microwave and keep aside for cooling.
  • Meanwhile, take a bowl and put gramflour, rice flour, chilly powder, asafoetida, salt & garlic paste and mix well.
  • Don`t add water.
  • Take the cooled peanuts. Sprinkle a few drops of water on them and mix with hand so the water coats the peanuts.
  • To this moist peanuts, add half of the gram flour mix, and mix well. Sprinkle a little more water and add the rest of the flour little by little.
  • All the peanuts should be coated well with moist flour mix. Don't add lot of water . Otherwise the peanuts will stick together when frying.
  • Take a heavy bottomed pan and heat oil for deep frying.
  • When the oil is hot, reduce the flame and drop the peanuts in along with the torn curry leaves. Deep fry until golden brown stirring continuously. Drain on tissue paper. Tasty evening snack is ready.
