MYSORE RASAM Vegetarian-Dish

Mysore Rasam Recipe can easily be used for it needs simple ingredients that are easily available in home. It is a south Indian soup. The pulses can be used frequently and though a lot of spices are used in Mysore Rasam Recipe, they are beneficial for health. The soup can be eaten with rice, by soaking vadas in it or simply by itself.


Red gram dal
: 4 tbsp
Tamarind, lemon size
: 1/2
Mustard seeds
: 1/2 tsp
: few drops
: 1/4 tsp
Red chillies
: 2
Coriander seeds
: 1 tsp
: 1/2 tsp
: To taste
Bengalgram dal
: 1 tsp
Red gram dal
: 1 tsp
: a pinch
Cumin seeds
: 1/2 tsp

Mysore Rasam


  • Add sufficient water to the dal, turmeric and a few drops of oil and micro high for 15-20 minutes. Check once in between if water is sufficient, else add more.
  • Soak tamarind in water and extract the juice.
  • Roast the masala ingredients except for cumin seeds and grind it well along with cumin seeds.
  • Add the salt, asafoetida and masala to the tamarind juice and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Add the cooked dal and micro high again for 2 minutes.
  • Season with mustard seeds.
