(1 to 1.25 L) cabbage, finely chopped
: 4 to 5 cups
(50 mL) butter or margarine
: 2 tbsp
Bhune groundnuts
: 3 tbsp
(30 mL) flour
: 2 tbsp
(1 L) chicken
: 4 cups
(5 mL) dill or parsley
: 1 tsp
Frankfurters, thinly sliced
: 3 to 4

Old Country Cabbage Soup


  • In a 12-cup (3 L) microwave-safe bowl melt the butter or margarine at HIGH 2 minutes.
  • Add the cabbage, stir well. Cover and microwave at HIGH 5 minutes, stirring once during the cooking period.
  • Stir in the flour. When well mixed, add the remaining ingredients, except the frankfurters. Microwave at HIGH 20 minutes, stirring after the first 10 minutes.
  • When cooked, add the frankfurters. Microwave 1 minute at HIGH and serve.
