RICE (ARISI) UPMA
This dish is known for its humbleness and simplicity.Back in the days, this upma is prepared in a bronze pot (vengala paanai). The slightly burnt upma stuck to the bottom of the pot is to die for. Fast forward to present, this is made in a kadai, pressure cooker or rice cooker.
Bengal gram dal
: 1/2 tsp
Grind the rice, toor dal, jeera and pepper into fine rawa in the mixer.
- Add to this, 2 cups of water, salt and microwave on high for 10 minutes, stirring twice in between.
- In a closed microwave safe bowl, add the oil, rai, chana dal and urad dal and micro high for 1 minutes. Add curry leaves and mix well with the upma.
- Allow 2 minutes standing time.
- Delicious rice upma is ready to eat. Serve with chutney and jaggery.
