SHAHI KHEER Vegetarian-Dish

Kheer is a very traditional Indian dessert. Shahi means royal. As this recipe calls for Kesar and Badam (Saffron and Almonds), is considered royal.


Basmati rice
: 50 gm
Toned milk
: 2 cups
: 100 gm
Cardamom pd (elaichi powder)
: 1/2 tsp
Dry fruits
(cashew nuts, almonds, pista, raisins)
: 1/2

Shahi Kheer


  • Wash and soak rice for 15-20 min. Drain the water.
  • In a deep microwave safe bowl, mix milk, rice and cardamom powder and boil at 100% power for 7-8 min. Stir in between. Then microwave again at 50% power for 5-6 min.
  • Add sugar and microwave at 50% power for 8-10 min. Allow to stand for 5 min.
  • Garnish with chopped nuts of your choice. Serve hot or chilled.
