He took 5 wickets and gave away 224 runs in this competition, scoring 25 runs. As a subject of fact, the controlling Captain of the Indian squad, Nawab Pataudi Jr. was very caring of his abilities, and offered him a number of opportunities to play in a variety of matches. Still, a number of periods he became a fatality of the side and selection politics wherein he dropped out quite a few times in order to do good to S. Venkataraghavan, a yet another associate of the Spin Quartet.

Test Debut

Prasanna played his first appearance Test cricket match at Madras in opposition to England in 1961. His first abroad tour to the West Indies was a tough one and he did not play one more Test for five years. He left the sport for a period to conclude his engineering degree, returning in 1967. He achieved a regular place in the side following his brilliant performances in England in 1967.

Peculiar Tactics

Prasanna was prominent for spinning the ball in a looping fashion, repeatedly leading the batsman to strike the ball up in the air. He also used to spring the ball fairly high, and used to peacefully tempt the batsman to obligate a mistake for stretched overs.

Broadly respected and dreaded in domestic cricket as well, he liked bowling to batsmen that were agreeable to try to strike him. He had a neat, brisk, high exploit and amazing control of line, length, and flight. He spun the ball in a standard high loop towards the batsman, raising his probability of beating his foe in the air. As a consequence, he made the ball spring higher than anticipated. A bowler with an offensive mindset, he was also patient, and would tempt a batsman for more than gone over, cracking to provoke a mistake.

The Last Moments

Subsequent a explore to Pakistan in the year 1978 after which Bishan Singh Bedi and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar also gone out of the team, Prasanna affirmed his retirement from playing Cricket. In his last Test match that he played against Pakistan on 27th of October 1978, he took no wicket giving away 94 runs. He has written a memoir, One More Over. He was awarded upon with the Padma Shri Award in the year 1970 and the Castrol Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2006.

Erapalli Prasanna, the former India off spinner, has condemned the Indian board for not utilizing his services ample at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and confirmed that as his motive for joining the Indian Cricket League's director board.

"Though I'm based in the same city, my services at the NCA were utilized only up to a bare minimum," Prasanna told Press Trust of India (PTI). "When [ICL chairman] Kapil Dev spoke to him he told him the league wanted Prasanna to fulfil one of its main objectives - developing good spinners. I found that my intention tallied with theirs. So, I liked the proposal and joined the league."

But regardless of having spent only a few days with young spinners, Prasanna said his coaching had optimistic results. He quoted the example of Piyush Chawla, the leg spinner picked for the one-dayers in opposition to England. "When everybody else shouted that he should be ready to play domestic cricket for some more era, only I competed that he needs to be operated in the top level. And the consequences are for all to see," he said.

Chawla had a victorious India A tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya where he picked up 30 wickets in four first-class sport including a 10-wicket pull against Zimbabwe ahead of being called up to the senior group in England.

"Despite showing consequences, they under-utilized me. When I raised this issue I was cold-shouldered," Prasanna said. "So, I thought here is a platform [ICL] where I can dedicate myself to the job of developing spinners for India."

To one side from Kapil and Prasanna, ex- players Kiran More, Sandeep Patil, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Rajesh Chauhan and Madan Lal have also joined the ICL in diverse capacities. The contest is expected to be played in October among six teams including four international, two Indian players and eight imminent players.
