Gagan Ajit Singh is an International Indian Hockey player and a very efficient striker on the field of hockey. He is the dearest son of renowned hockey player Ajit Singh, expert Indian Hockey player who played for the National Indian Hockey team at Munich Hockey Olympic Games in the year 1972 and Montreal Hockey Olympic Games in the year 1976. The uncle of Gagan Ajit Singh, named Harmik Singh was also an International Indian Hockey player and has also been the Captain of the National Indian Hockey team in the past years.

Gagan Ajit Singh has been the captain of the junior hockey team that had won the Junior Hockey World Cup in the year 2001. For his astonishing achievements, Gagan Ajit Singh was given the Arjuna Award in the year 2002. Gagan Ajit Singh was born on the 9th day of December month in the year 1980 in a city called Ferozpur, Punjab, India. Gagan Ajit Singh did his schooling at Union Academy School and Jamia Millia Islamia, both of which were situated in Delhi.

Early Life

Gagan Ajit Singh started playing Hockey very seriously at the Junior Level and he played as part of the Air India Academy team in the Junior National Hockey tournament that was held in the year 1997. With an astonishing total score of 26 goals, Gagan Ajit Singh was the leading scorer of the tournament. He then played as the Captain of his Air India Academy team at the Junior National Hockey game that was held in the year 1999. While he was part of the team at the Junior National tournament that was held in the year 1997.

He developed interest in the game of field Hockey at quite an early young age, and he also took training at the Sports College, Jalandhar and Air India Hockey Academy, New Delhi in the year 1995 to improve his game skills. He became an international hockey whose father Ajit Singh was a highly famous field hockey player who also was part of the National Indian Hockey Team in the year 1972 and in the year 1976 at Summer Olympics. Established as a recognized hockey player, Gagan Ajit Singh has made the Indian country proud on numerous occasions by the quality of his dazzling performance at the international level in the game of field hockey.



Beginning of Hockey Career

Gagan Ajit Singh made his first appearance into the Senior Hockey game the very same year and he played as part of the Senior National Hockey team at the tournament that was held in the year 1997 and in the year 1999 which was held at Bangalore and Hyderabad respectively. Gagan Ajit Singh also was part of the Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey tournament in the year 2001, in the year 2002 and in the year 2004. In the event that was played in the year 2001, he was declared as the Player of the Tournament, while he directed his hockey team to ultimate victory in the tournament that was held in the year 2002 and he also managed to score the Golden Goal in the Last match.

Apart from it, he has also played at the Muruguppa Gold Cup tournament that was held in the year 1998 and Surjeet Memorial Hockey tournament that was held in the year 2004. Gagan Ajit Singh made his first appearance into the field of International Field Hockey in the year of 1997 with a Test Series game against the Russian Hockey team. After this game he became part of the team for the various events such as the Commonwealth Games in the year 1998 that was held at Kuala Lumpur.

South African tour that took place in the year 1999, nearly 14 European tours between the year 1999 and the year 2004, nearly 10 Australian tours between the year 1999 and the year 2004 and in Indo-Pak Series game that was held in the 1999 where he notched a whooping 17 goals and became the top scorer of India against the opponent nation. He has also played at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament that was held at Kuala Lumpur in the year 2000, Hockey Champions Challenge tournament in the year 2001 and went on a New Zealand tour in the year 2001 where he slashed 4 goals which also included a Hat-Trick.

Gagan Ajit Singh played at the Afro-Asian Games

Moreover, Gagan Ajit Singh played at the Afro-Asian Games in the year 2003 that was held at Hyderabad where he notched 5 goals and in the Asia Hockey Cup tournaments in the year 1999 and 2003. He was a part of the National Indian Hockey team that played at the Busan Asian Games ine the year 2002 and he notched 4 goals at the game which also included the Match Winning final goal against the Pakistan team in the Semi-Final match.

Gagan Ajit Singh has been part of the 2 Champions Trophy tournaments

Gagan Ajit Singh has been part of the 2 Champions Trophy tournaments games for India in the year 2002 and the year 2003, and he scored 4 goals in both the hockey events and he became the All Time Top Scorer for the Indian team at the prominent event. He has represented the National Indian Hockey team at the the Sydney Olympic Games that was held in the year 2000 and Athens Olympic Games that was held in the year 2004. At the Athens Olympic Games, Gagan was the top scorer for the Indian team as he slashed 7 goals at the hockey event.

Apart from being a part of the National Indian Hockey team at a various number of International Hockey tournaments, Gagan Ajit Singh has also been connected with an Overseas Hockey club. Since the year 2005, he has been playing as part of a team for a club from Netherlands that was named HC Klein Zwitserland in a very famous Hockey league called Hoofdklasse.

Gagan Ajit Singh was given the esteemed Arjuna Award

For his excellent skills in the sport of Field Hockey and his unfailing performance as an amazing Hockey player for the National Indian Hockey team, Gagan Ajit Singh was given the esteemed Arjuna Award by the Indian Government in the year 2002. Gagan Ajit Singh has also been honored with a numerous number of various other awards too which included Promising Junior Sportsperson Award by the Delhi Sports Journalists Association in the year 1997, Hero Honda Sports Award in the year 2003 and in the year 2004. He was also given the Birla Foundation Award in the year 2002.
