Mohammed Shahid, a past field hockey player from the lands of India, was a courteous forwarder. Mohammed Shahid was born on 14th day of April month in the year 1960. Mohammed Shahid was born on the 14th day of the April month in the year 1960 at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was part of the Junior Indian Hockey team at the age of 19 years. He played a crucial part of the Junior Indian Hockey team at the Junior World Cup that was held in France. Very soon he succeeded to secure a place for himself in the Senior Indian National Hockey team and had played at the Champions Trophy Tournament of the hockey game that was held at Karachi and International Hockey Tournament that was held at Kuala Lumpur in the year 1980.



International Hockey

Though the Indian National Hockey team did not toll pretty well at the Karachi tournament, Mohammed Shahid was titled as the Best Forward of the Hockey Tournament over there at Karachi. Later, he was part of the Indian National Hockey team at the Moscow Olympic Games that was held in the year 1980, where the National Team succeeded to win the Gold Medal magnificently. He also part of the Indian National Hockey team that played at the World Cup Hockey Tournament in the year 1981 that was held at Bombay which is now called as Mumbai, where the Indian National Hockey team finished at 5th place.

Then, he partook in the Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament that was held at Karachi in the year 1983 and in the year 1984, and also played at Esanda World Hockey Tournament that was held at Perth, Australia.Mohammed Shahid was a part of the Indian National Hockey team that played at Los Angeles Olympic Games that was held in the year 1984 and in the Seoul Olympic Games that was held in the year 1988, even though the Indian National Hockey team could not get any medal at both these events.

National Championship Game in the year 1999

In the year 2000, at the Olympics he had notched two goals for his team. Proceeding to this he had notched a hat trick in the National Championship Game in the year 1999 and he was acknowledged as the Player of the Championship Game. In his livelihood he has contributed to all the major tournaments. Unluckily, the unparalleled talent, for which mass always cherished him, was not sufficient to brand him a hero, very frequently he was accused for the Indian team's failure. He has not even once played in any specialized foreign hockey club.

Other Achievements

Mohammed Shahid had outstanding driveling skills and he was alleged to be the very Best Dribbler in the Hockey World. As a worker of the Indian Railways in the post of Welfare Inspector, Mohammed Shahid had been part of the Indian Railways Hockey team in a various number of National Hockey Championship games, and has even got the Indian Railways Hockey team a National Championship Title in the year of 1988 that was held at Delhi, India. He has also managed the Indian National Hockey team as its Captain throughout the year 1985.

Awards

As an honor to his exceptional services to the Indian nation in the field if sport of Hockey, Mohammed was given upon the Arjuna Award in the year 1980. Moreover, Shahid was also respected with the Padma Shri award by the Indian government in the year 1986.
