The main aim behind the observance of Human Right's Day is to protect the rights of the human being and for them to understand and get a widespread knowledge of what are the rights. It is observed on the 10th of December all over the world. Keeping in mind the Second World War and the losses which should never be allowed to recur, the United Nations came forward in 1945 to promote and protect the human rights. Thus three years later in 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations confirmed that "Respect for human rights and human dignity "is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world" as the declaration for the Human Rights concept. Every year the 10th of December marks the anniversary of the Universal adoption of the Human Rights declaration in 1948.

In course of years now this after being built into a complete network human rights implement and the efforts are taken collectively to ensure the state of being foremost and sees to that no encounter of human rights violations takes place. The first formal establishment of Human Rights Day took place at the 317th Plentary Meeting of the General Assembly on 4 December 1950.During this meeting all the member states and other organizations were invited to celebrate this day and also marks the declaration of the resolution 423(V) by the United Nations General assembly. The day's celebration mainly involves cultural events, exhibitions, stage shows, conferences and political meetings in concern with the human rights issues throughout the world. Apart from this once in every five years awards are given for those who served in the field of Human Rights and Nobel Peace Prize are also awarded. There are many organizations like governmental, nongovernmental, civil and social-cause organizations which take active participation on this day by scheduling special events.

Human Rights Day As part of Human Rights Day celebration many government and local authorities fix on some plans in promoting human rights for allocating funds for activities related to human rights. Annual awards are also given for human rights defenders. Apart from this we can also organize a public speaking to lecture on human rights. Also people from the field of business can also take active participation by executing plans to uphold labour and human rights standards within their company. Education campaigns on human rights can also be arranged in the company premises for the employees to benefit out of it. Among all the section of people the media people can put forth in a lot of effort on promotion of this day. They can dedicate space in the magazines for publishing stories/opinion articles on human rights. They can in the form of print bring official statements from the Secretary-General and High Commissioner for Human Rights along with interviews from an eminent person who has contributed in the field of Human rights.

The schools and other educational institutions can organize various competitions like art, essay, workshops, debates etc for students on human rights. Later the best can also be published in different media. Even the civilians can contribute their participation on Human rights day by organizing campaigns to promote human rights in their region and they can also arrange for film screening and discussion or coordinate a film festival highlighting one or several human rights. With improved technologies in recent days SMS/text message campaigns are also organized to encourage people to read and know the Universal Declaration.
