The cities of Jalandhar in Punjab and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh are the major sports goods manufacturing industries’ hub. This area employs around 5 lakh people and is more than a century old. The domestic industry export nearly 60% of its total output.

Export of sports goods from India reached US$ 122.76 million in FY20 .
Total toys, games, and sports requisites export reached US$ 404.13 million in FY20.
The total toys, games, and sports export was US$ 303.14 million in April 2020 to December 2020 .
The total sports goods export accounted for US$ 224.04 million from April 2020 to January 2021 and for the month of January 2021 alone it was US$ 20.74 million.
Top destinations for export of sports goods in FY21 were US, UAE, UK, Australia, and Germany.
The major exported sports items were inflatable balls and accessories, nets, general exercise equipment, boxing equipment, toys and games, protective equipment, cricket equipment, sportswear, carrom boards and hammock.
India has emerged as the leading international sourcing destination for inflatable balls.
India manufactures goods for major sporting brands across the globe.
