The Indian Hotel Industry revenues grew by 5%-8% in 2014-15. The growth was around 9-11% in 2015-16 driven by a modest increase in occupancy and small traction in rates. Over the next 12 months, ICRA expects the Revenue per Available Room to improve by 7-8% driven by up to 5% pickup in occupancies and 2-3% growth in Average Room Rates (ARR).

While occupancies pan India are showing signs of improvement during 2016, this appears to be driven by few pockets like Mumbai where occupancies grew by an astonishing 15% Year-to-Year in 2015.

Bengaluru also exhibited some stabilization as far as the Hotel Industry revenues are concerned for year 2015. The National Capital Region (NCR) is exhibiting wide variation in performance across the board exhibiting 1-2% growth.

India has around 29,000 premium rooms under development to be launched over the next six year period. Unless demand keeps pace, the widening supply-demand gap in the cities across India will impact the Indian Hotel Industry revenues substantially.
