Bhagalpur is one of the imortant cities of the state of Bihar. Bhagalpur derives its name from Bhagdattpuram, which means "City of good luck".

Bodh Gaya is situated at a distance of about 105kms from Patna and 15kms south of Ganga.The life of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, is associated with the town of Bodh Gaya.

Sanchi was the centre for the Hinayana form of Buddhism and it nothing much associated with the life of Gautama Buddha. It was Emperor Ashoka who was one of the ardent disciple of Buddha, in the third century BC built the first stupa in Sanchi.

Vaishali is about 55kms.north of Patna by road across the Ganaga.This place is supposed to be the oldest republic of the world, the Lichchvis.Vaishali is the birth place of Lord Mahavira,the most prominent Jain Tirthankar.
